Print finishing has been increasingly automated in recent years, but not nearly to the same extend as printing or, in particular, prepress. Due to the great variety of processes and the complexity of the mechanical processes, more manual intervention is required. That is why great efforts are being made in print finishing to introduce CIM (computer integrated manufacturing) so that print finishing does not become the bottleneck in the production of printed material. Print finishing (post press) includes all those steps which are carried out after printing on paper or an other material has taken place. Finishing processes are as diverse as the methods of producing printed products, whether they involve Varnishing, Gloss & Matt Varnishing, Aqua Varnishing, UV & Spot Varnishing, Gross & matt lamination, Binding, Center Staple, Spiral Binding, Wiro Binding, Perfect Binding, Case Binding, or sets of labels. |
